South Dakota Health Information Management Academic Programs

The health information management (HIM) field places you right where the expanding arena of healthcare meets the cutting edge of technology. As an HIM professional, you are the expert on patient data that doctors, nurses, and other providers rely on to perform their jobs. By maintaining, collecting, and analyzing health information, your work makes an important contribution to the delivery of quality care.

Dakota State University currently offers a variety of options in their Health Information Management Programs, including an associate degree in health information technology and a bachelors degree in health information administration.  These programs are accredited by CAHIIM.  The school also offers a healthcare coding certificate program that is approved by AHIMA.

A couple of different masters degree options are offered.  For more information, please contact Dorine Bennett via e-mail at dorine.bennett@dsu.edu or call her at (605) 256-5137.
