SDHIMA 2025 Year-End Message
President’s Message
Pam Schmitt, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC
As my Presidential term comes to an end, it is bittersweet. While it is nice to have some of my duties in the rearview mirror, in several ways I feel like I am just starting to gain some traction. Becoming familiar with the AHIMA staff through our CA Leader meetings and working with the House of Delegates on issues that ultimately impact our members, it has been a wonderful growth and learning experience.
There has been opportunity to learn from other CA leaders on what has worked well for them in terms of strategy, advocacy and membership. While there never seems to be enough time in the day, whether it be at work or in our personal lives, I encourage you to consider increased involvement in SDHIMA. It is easy to feel drained and wonder “how can I possibly do one more thing?” However, the networking, experiences with other AHIMA members and overall engagement is truly energizing. Reach out to a board member and ask how you can serve!
